The liberal comedians of late night talk shows have finally realized not all of the liberals that they like to idolize are perfect and have started attacking them on their own shows as well, reports The Washington Times.
Some recent and notable instances where just last month when Trevor Noah, host of Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show,” bashed Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) claimed to be of Native American descent when that has been disproved.
More recently, HBO talker John Oliver drilled actor Dustin Hoffman on stage during a recent panel to promote the 20th anniversary of his film “Wag the Dog,” over allegations that he sexually harassed a female co-star on the set of a film in 1985.
While both incidents got different coverage, it is still interesting to see the liberal “news” talk show hosts pounce with such ferocity at liberal icons such Hoffman and especially Warren who is positioned for a 2020 presidential run.
The Comedian New-talk-shows are not the only platform that has been critical of Democrats. Saturday Night Live has also taken a stab at the Dems when they recently mocked how old and out of touch Democrats are today in a commercial that is trying to appeal to their supporters.
SNL still hasn’t mocked Warren for her unsubstantiated Native American roots, but Noah did a good job tackling the issue that most other liberal comedians haven’t gone near.
“When he says ‘Pocahontas,’ you might be thinking, ‘Wait, Trevor, I’m confused. Is Elizabeth Warren Native American?’ And you see, that’s the question. Because for a long time, she said she was,” the South African comic said.
From 1986 to 1995 during Warren’s time as a Harvard law professor, identified herself as an American Indian in the Association of American Law Schools, even though genealogical evidence does not support her claims, Noah said. He then made a sly joke about her recipe contributions to a 1984 cookbook titled “Pow Wow Chow.”
“That would be like finding out I’m completely white, I have no African blood and yet I wrote the book ‘Snacks for Blacks,’ ” he said.
Most major entertainment sites ignored covering Noah’s takedown and instead did their usual job of trying to take down the president.
Some examples of those pieces were Stephen Colbert’s addresse about Donald Trump endorsement of “Creme-De-La Creep” Roy Moore or Samantha Bee tearing into Mr. Trump’s “Clusterf*ck of Ineptitude” on James Comey.
What is unusual this time is the CNN and MSNBC, who have Noah on regularly or comment on his show regularly, decided to say nothing about the Warren story.
Veteran media critic Bernard Goldberg says it’s not an accident that reporters spread anti-Trump gags while going silent when a Trevor Noah takes the opposite approach.
“Journalists gladly rerun clips from late-night shows that bash President Trump because it’s a way to indirectly bash Trump themselves,” said Goldberg, who is no Trump apologist. “If late-night comedians were conservative and spent a lot of time making fun of liberals, mainstream journalists wouldn’t find the jokes so funny.”
Goldberg also makes the point that it could be useful to have journalistic investigations into why the owners of the networks allow that kind of coverage to go on.
Jason Killian Meath, a political media strategist and CEO of Meath Television Media, blames a bubbled media culture with little room for differing views.
“There is such a pack mentality, you really need to wonder if the media is simply talking to each other,” Mr. Meath said. “They don’t seem to go out of their way to offer up anything unique.
Goldberg also believes that the media’s tactics regarding late-night humor may also be a voting strategy since younger voters tend to watch those comedians more and therefore may influence their vote in the end.
It’s refreshing to see this kind of obstinance go on in the comic world where it has been dominated by liberals for a long time now. Hopefully, some light will be shed on idiotic Democrats like Warren in the future and by the left’s “allies” as well.
