President Obama really does not like that he is no longer in office. He just can’t help himself. And whenever he gets a chance he reminds people that his record is impeccable, despite what many Americans know to be true. The other day Obama took credit for the unprecedented economic growth seen under President Trump:
“Former President Barack Obama is taking credit for the robust economic growth that is taking place under President Trump.
“At a conference of mayors in Chicago, Mr. Obama congratulated himself Tuesday for strong employment numbers in the U.S. this year, saying his climate-change policies have contributed to growth.
“A’s we took these actions, we saw the U.S. economy grow consistently,’ Mr. Obama said. ‘We saw the longest streak of job creation in American history by far, a streak that still continues by the way.’
“He added wryly, ‘Thanks, Obama.’”
Since President Trump took office the stock market has seen an increase of 30% in value. The Gross Domestic Product has increased 3 percent in each of the last two quarters. The jobless rate is at a 17-year low of 4.1%. While most economists credit Trump’s regulatory rollback in addition to coming tax cuts as the impetus for this increase, Obama sees it a different way.
So when White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders heard about Obama’s boast, she could not resist. She tweeted this out yesterday:
She also appeared on Fox News and joked about Obama’s comments (see video above).
