Trump Was About To Give Illegals Amnesty, Then This Conservative Hero Stepped In

President Trump ruffled some feathers last month when he supposedly agreed to a deal with Democrats to give amnesty to the so-called ‘Dreamers.’ His chief of staff John Kelly was allegedly in support of the agreement. Democrats also announced that funding for the border wall was not tied into the deal. At the time many conservatives and Trump supporters were alarmed or in disbelief. Now we know that the president was willing to make the deal after all.

But now, President Trump has changed his mind. And it’s all thanks to conservative hero Sean Hannity.

Hannity made a phone call to the president and urged him to take a “harder line on broader immigration enforcement.” Trump took his suggestion to heart and over the weekend unveiled a list of demands that will undoubtedly force Democrats away from their deal.

The president made this clear while speaking to Hannity on his show on Wednesday in which he said:

“Look, we have 800,000 people. They’re not necessarily young… but a lot of these people are in the military, they have jobs… but if we’re going to do something, we have to get something in return. And what I want is tremendous border regulation, I want the wall, and we’re going to get other things. And we’re going to see if we can work something out. Now, whether or not we do, I don’t know. But it would be wonderful to solve the DACA problem.”

And the demands he sent to Congress are in line with a security-first approach:

“Before agreeing to provide legal status for 800,000 young immigrants brought here illegally as children, Mr. Trump will insist on the construction of a wall across the southern border, the hiring of 10,000 immigration agents, tougher laws for those seeking asylum and denial of federal grants to “sanctuary cities,” officials said.

“The White House is also demanding the use of the E-Verify program by companies to keep illegal immigrants from getting jobs, an end to people bringing their extended family into the United States, and a hardening of the border against thousands of children fleeing violence in Central America. Such a move would shut down loopholes that encourage parents from Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras to send their children illegally into the United States, where many of them melt into American communities and become undocumented immigrants.

“On the president’s wish list is a long-sought Republican goal of stopping American residents from sponsoring the arrival of extended family members. His demand would limit residents to bringing only spouses and children.

“Also central to the effort, officials said, are legal changes that would strip away the rights of illegal immigrants to claim asylum or make another case to stay in the United States, allowing federal officials to more quickly deport them.”

We all owe a debt of gratitude to Sean Hannity. The DACA debate is a poison pill. Democrats use an emotional argument for allowing illegal aliens to stay in this country. But we don’t make laws based on emotion and for good reason. Granting amnesty will result in every illegal alien under the sun filing legal challenges as to why they should also be allowed in the group who just received amnesty. The courts will come to a standstill with such requests. And if there is a hint of amnesty, immigrants from all over the world will flock to the United States to make sure they are given the same treatment. Without border security there is nothing to stop them.

President Trump wants to win and in his mind a deal with Democrats has the look of bipartisanship. But the left has their own agenda. Giving them a victory such as this will allow them to go to voters with a tale of “beating” Trump at his own game. There is no way Trump, or more importantly the American people, can win in that scenario.
